Low level laser therapy (LLLT) is a treatment modality that applies low power lasers or light emitting diodes (LEDs) to the surface of the body. It is simply another form of energy that is applied to human tissue to stimulate a physiologic response.

It is a non-invasive light source that generates a single wavelength of light. It emits no heat, sound, or vibration. It is also called photobiology or biostimulation. LLLT is believed to affect the function of connective tissue cells (fibroblasts), accelerate connective tissue repair and act as an anti-inflammatory agent.

This light has been found to have good effect on pain, inflammation and tissue repair.

Conditions that could improve include but are not limited to

- Tendinopathies( Achillies, Tennis Elbow)

- Ligament sprains

- Joint pains (Knee)

Contraindications include

- Eyes

- Cancer

- Pregnancy

- Epileptics

Research has also found that it is best to combine LLLT with other treatment modalities, such as exercises to further increase treatment benefit, pain reduction and returning back to work or sport.
